Spyware Protection
By Jamie Silver
Because Spyware and the subsequent solutions available are ever evolving and updating, it can seem like a full time job to continually stay on top of things let alone find the time to do it all. Therefore you will benefit from choosing a protection package that updates itself automatically.

Here are a few things that are worth considering when looking to protect your computer and everything within it you hold dear.

1. Make sure your Anti Spyware software schedules itself to update when you log on to your computer.

2. Whatever Spyware protection you choose, ensure it updates when you go online.

3. It sounds obvious, but do not open emails, attachments from people and places you don’t know. Needless to say this can cause serious damage to your files, details and you’ll have no -one to blame but yourself.

4. When downloading anything, be sure you are confident of it’s authenticity. If in doubt, leave it out! File sharing products may be Spyware tools as to might be pirated software applications.

5. If a pop up appears get rid of it by hitting the top corner X only. Hitting anything else that the pop up offers May well have forced you to agree to something you don’t want to be a part of or open you up to infection.

6. Consider a different browser. Because of the nature of Windows Explorer it is quite vulnerable to attack and your personal information is easy passed through it. Opera and Firefox, whilst not entirely immune, are a little safer.

7. It’s an old one, but still a good one. Back up your files! Even scan them before saving them and storing them. You Don’t want to lose all your precious work or memories because of one innocent click. Storing thing externally on a memory stick or external drive is no bad idea.

8. Install a Firewall. Whilst your Spyware scanner, Spyware remover and Anti Spyware software checks all files for corrupted influences will block access from sources that are either unknown or that you have specifically restricted.
